We are excited to announce our inaugural fundraising event for the Florida Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence. We invite you to Power, Purpose, and Policy: An Evening to Prevent Gun Violence. The event will be held in a private home in Winter Park, Florida on October 14, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:30 PM. We will welcome special guest speakers and a talented group of singers will perform.

For the last 2 years, the League of Women Voters of Florida (LWVF) has fought irresponsible gun legislation sponsored by the NRA. We won, stopping 3 bad bills from becoming law.

Then on June 12th, the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history took place at Orlando’s Pulse Nightclub. 49 people were killed and 53 were injured. In the days following the massacre, the LWVF began forming the Florida Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence. We represent a wide spectrum of state and national organizations and leaders, which includes the LGBTQ, Latino, African American, faith-based, medical, educational, and other organizations. We are 100+ strong and continue to grow — but need your support.

Join us the evening of October 14, 2016 as we raise money to achieve our goals: Universal background checks in Florida and a statewide ban on semiautomatic assault weapons.

Harm to one of us is harm to all of us. Both in the nation and in Florida, legal access to guns is all too easy. Help us pass responsible, sensible firearm legislation in Florida. Our resilience and our results on other issues speak for themselves. We will win this.
