The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is testing a small-scale program to get some homeless adults out of encampments and into housing. It’s an encouraging sign that the county’s largest local law-enforcement agency is seeking alternatives to arresting homeless trespassers or dispersing them elsewhere.

Join us on September 11 as we learn about SHIFTS, the Sheriff’s Housing Initiative Facilitating Transient Services.  Our guest will be William Spitler, program director.  Our monthly breakfast meeting starts at 8:45 am, and takes place at Brookdale Sarasota Central, on Bee Ridge Road. For more information, see our Events page.
